Sri Lanka left-arm pace bowler Chanaka Welegedara has been recalled to Test team for the first time in 18 months after fellow seamer Suranga Lakmal was left out since he did not sufficiently recover from his grade two hamstring tear.

Lakmal suffered the injury during the first ODI against England at The Oval.

Wicketkeeper Prasanna Jayawardene will don the keeping gloves, but there was no place for middle order batsman Kithuruwan Vithanage.
