Sri Lanka wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara has joined Durham on a short-term deal in order to prepare himself for the national team’s tour of England in May.
Sangakkara, who is likely to miss Sri Lanka’s two-match ODI series against Ireland prior to the tour of England, confirmed that he will play two or three County Championship matches.
Sangakkara also noted that he joined Durham in order to get accustomed to facing the Duke ball, which will be used during the Test series against England.
