“At the end of the day he’s been exceptional for us overall but he’d be disappointed with his own form”

Australia head coach Darren Lehmann has announced that wicketkeeper-batsman Brad Haddin’s performance throughout the World Twenty20 has been under-par.

Haddin has failed to score many runs following highly successful series against England and South Africa.

“His keeping has been poor,” Lehmann said. “That’s okay, he won’t mind me saying that.

“He’s honest enough for that. He’s been fantastic over a long period of time for us.

“He took a great catch to dismiss Samuels but missed a couple of opportunities.

“At the end of the day he’s been exceptional for us overall but he’d be disappointed with his own form in these two games. That’s not hiding away from the truth.

“The simple fact is a few of our experienced blokes – Shane Watson, David Warner for example along with Brad – have not had the impact that we would’ve liked.

“But Brad has had a lot of cricket. But he’s been fantastic around our group and we’ll stick with him because he’s a brilliant person and he will get a rest now and obviously freshen up and come back a better player.”
