“He is being managed by a team of medical specialists”
Australia left-arm pace bowler Mitchell Johnson is in a race against time to get fit for the Indian Premier League (IPL) after Cricket Australia reported that his toe infection has now spread to his right leg.
Johnson’s toe became infected after he sustained a cut on it during the third and final Test against South Africa in Cape Town.
“He is recovering from an infection that began in his right big toe, before affecting his right leg,” Cricket Australia said via a statement. “He is being managed by a team of medical specialists.
“Depending on how quickly he recovers, Johnson’s next scheduled commitment is the Indian Premier League where he will represent Kings XI Punjab.”
Johnson was bought by the Kings XI Punjab for Rs 6.5 crores ($1.083 million) in the IPL auction in February.
