Steyn struggling with hamstring injury

Steyn first injured his hamstring during the third Test against Australia

South Africa are sweating on the fitness of pace spearhead Dale Steyn after he left the field during the Proteas’ warm-up match against Bangladesh A with “some tightness in his hamstring”.

Steyn only bowled 2.2 overs in the match before leaving the field.

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis was sidelined for the match due to a hamstring injury as well.

Steyn first injured his hamstring after bowling 10.1 overs in the first innings of the third and final Test against Australia in Cape Town.

He subsequently bowled three overs in the second innings.

South Africa’s next warm-up match will be against Pakistan on March 19.

The Proteas’ first World Twenty20 match will come against Sri Lanka on March 22.
