Johnson likely to arrive late for World T20 after sustaining toe infection

Australia left-arm pace bowler Mitchell Johnson is likely to arrive late for the upcoming World Twenty20 in Bangladesh after sustaining a toe infection.

The infection occurred after Johnson suffered a cut on his toe during the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town.

“Mitch has been home in Perth recovering from the Test series against South Africa but has developed an infection as a result of a cut he had on his right big toe after the third Test,”¬†Cricket Australia’s chief medical officer¬†Justin Paolini said. “He is receiving treatment but his departure to Bangladesh for the World T20 may be delayed until we are happy that the infection has resolved and his toe has fully recovered.”

Australia start off their World Twenty20 campaign against Pakistan on March 23.
