“Each and every game of seventh edition of IPL will be thoroughly monitored”
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla has announced that any player caught match-fixing in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) will be banned for life.
Shukla’s comments come after former India pace bowler Sreesanth received a life ban for being involved in a match-fixing scandal during last year’s IPL.
“The BCCI and IPL governing council are alert after spot-fixing allegations in previous edition of IPL,” Shukla said. “Each and every game of seventh edition of IPL will be thoroughly monitored. Any complaint to Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) will be dealt with a lot of seriousness. If the charges are proved, the guilty [party] will be banned for life.”
