“He will need seven to 10 days to recover”
Bangladesh spinner Sohag Gazi has been ruled out for the remainder of the Asia Cup after sustaining a thumb injury during his side’s 32-run loss to Afghanistan.
Gazi suffered a nasty cut on his thumb while fielding during the match.
“The cut was caused by the seam and it had to be stitched up,” Bangladesh physiotherapist Vibhav Singh said. “He will need seven to 10 days to recover.”
Gazi will be replaced by all-rounder Mahmudullah, who was dropped for the tournament following a poor run of form.
