Uncapped pace bowler Beuran Hendricks has admitted that being included in South Africa’s World Twenty20 squad is “even better than an IPL contract”.

Hendricks is also likely to make his international debut during South Africa’s ongoing home series against Australia as he was included in the national team for the three-match Twenty20 series.

“I have been dreaming of playing for South Africa since I was nine years old, it’s even more special because it’s a World Cup year and I will cherish this forever,” Hendricks said. “It’s even better than an IPL contract. I have been waiting for this since I started playing cricket.”

Hendricks has been in red-hot form with the ball as of late as he took 28 wickets at an astounding average of 10.28 in the Ram Slam T20 Challenge.

“Sometimes when I look back at the 28 wickets I got, I ask myself how on earth I managed to get there,” he said. “I think it was important to keep it simple and to keep calm.”

Hendricks credits his mentor Charl Langeveldt and High Performance Coach Vincent Barnes for all the success he has had recently.

“I worked with Charl on my skills, adapting to pressure and sticking to the basics,” Hendricks said. “Vincent and Charl have been always been there for me. They have always tried to make sure I am on top of my game.”
