The Kings XI Punjab have hired former India all-rounder Sanjay Bangar as their assistant coach ahead of the 2014 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

Bangar has been involved in the IPL previously as he played for the Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers before taking up a stint as Kochi Tuskers’ batting coach.

Bangar retired from first-class cricket in 2013 and has been coaching the India A side.

“It will be interesting to have a new team this year and a great challenge and opportunity to train some of the young and inspiring cricketers,” Bangar said. “I am looking forward to working with the team and am sure they will please the fans in season seven with their exceptional performance.”
