India’s reign as the number one ODI team has come to an end

Australia overtook India as the top-ranked ODI team following the subcontinent nation’s 15-run loss to New Zealand in the second ODI in Hamilton.

New Zealand’s batting duo of Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor both scored half-centuries, while all-rounder Corey Anderson smashed 44 off 17 balls, which included two boundaries and five sixes, and took three wickets.

Pace bowler Tim Southee played a vital role for New Zealand during India’s run chase as he claimed the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Despite half-centuries from Kohli and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India failed to reach their target of 297 off 42 overs.
