Harris would have been one of the top prospects in this year’s IPL auction

Australia pace bowler Ryan Harris has opted to undergo knee surgery at the end of the national team’s tour of South Africa instead of participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Harris, who took 22 wickets at an impressive average of 19.31 during Australia’s 5-0 whitewashing of England in the recently concluded Ashes series, was considered to be one of the top prospects in this year’s IPL auction.

However, Harris has decided to undergo surgery to clean up and repair his knee after the tour of South Africa so that he will be fully fit prior to the national team’s tour of Pakistan in October.
