Whatmore has had problems communicating with the players throughout his two-year tenure as head coach
Pakistan head coach Dav Whatmore has admitted that communicating with the players has always been an issue during his two-year tenure with the national team.
Many former Pakistan players have urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to hire a local coach so that they don’t have the same problems Whatmore has faced over the past couple of years.
“I think this (language barrier) was an issue specially the part where the communication came back,” Whatmore told Geo Super in Abu Dhabi.
However, despite the language barrier, Whatmore stated that he had enjoyed his time with the Pakistan team.
“Obviously, there is a feeling when you are getting ready to leave a bunch of players you have been with for two years but I am happy that the Pakistan cricket board and I am parting ways on a good and cordial note,” he said. “I am happy with the way things have worked out with the board and, in future, if there is an opportunity to come and work in some other capacity with Pakistan cricket, I will do it.”
Whatmore added that he intends to spend more time with his family when his contract expires next month.
“In the past two years, I have spent very little time with my family and I think now it is time to turn my attention to them,” he said.
