Akmal fractured his left index finger

Pakistan wicketkeeper Adnan Akmal will miss the remainder of the Test series against Sri Lanka after fracturing his left index finger on the third day of the first Test in Abu Dhabi.

The incident occurred on the last ball of the day when Akmal took a catch to dismiss Sri Lanka opening batsman Kaushal Silva.

He immediately looked to be in some discomfort.

Sarfraz Ahmed has been named as Akmal’s replacement and will fly to the United Arab Emirates prior to the start of the second Test in Dubai, which gets underway on January 8.
