Arafat last played for Pakistan in 2012

The Perth Scorchers have signed Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat for the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) season after West Indies batsman Dwayne Smith pulled out of the tournament due to personal reasons.

Despite Arafat last having played for Pakistan during the World Twenty20 in 2012, he has become a Twenty20 specialist after having played in domestic leagues in Pakistan, England, New Zealand, Bangladesh and Scotland.

However, if Smith were to return, the Scorchers would have to seek permission from the BBL technical committee to reinstate him.
