Gayle has yet to recover from his hamstring injury

West Indies flamboyant opening batsman Chris Gayle and all-rounder Kieron Pollard will miss the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand, which gets underway on December 26, due to injuries.

Gayle is still sidelined with the hamstring injury he sustained in India, while Pollard is struggling to recover from a knee injury.

Opener Kirk Edwards has been drafted into the squad as Gayle’s replacement.

One major surprise was the inclusion of left-arm spinner Nikita Miller, whose last ODI for the West Indies came during the 2011 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup.

All of the ODI players who are not currently involved in the ongoing Test series against New Zealand will assemble in Barbados for a week-long training camp.

West Indies ODI Squad: Dwayne Bravo (capt), Tino Best, Darren Bravo, Johnson Charles, Narsingh Deonarine, Kirk Edwards, Jason Holder, Nikita Miller, Sunil Narine, Kieron Powell, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Darren Sammy, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons
