Faulkner has already been ruled out of the third Test in Perth
Australia all-rounder James Faulkner will be out of action for a while after fracturing his thumb while batting in the nets earlier today.
Faulkner, who has been ruled out of the third Ashes Test in Perth, injured his thumb when being struck by a delivery from 26-year-old Aaron Onyon.
“James was struck on the right thumb while batting in the nets and was subsequently taken for an x-ray which revealed a fracture of the thumb,” Australia team doctor Peter Brukner said. “As a result he will not be available for the third Test. His progress will be monitored for a return to playing duty depending on how quickly the injury heals.”
