“Australia have worked Alastair out”

Legendary England batsman Geoffrey Boycott has slammed captain Alastair Cook’s performance in the ongoing Ashes series and even added that his brains must be “scrambled”.

Boycott’s comments come after Cook has only scored 82 runs in the first two Tests at a dismal average of 20.50.

“Australia have worked Alastair out,” Boycott said. “They give him nothing to score off his legs or hip and they are winning the battle.”

Boycott was also fuming when speaking about Cook’s dismissal in the second innings of the second Test in Adelaide.

“Here was our captain, who is supposed to set the tone, hooking Mitchell Johnson down fine leg’s throat in the second over of the day, which shows his brain is scrambled,” he said. “We have some serious problems.”

Boycott was even more infuriated about the fact that England’s batsmen are continuing to be dismissed via loose shots.

“What they have to work out is how they are going to get some pride back in the team,” he said. “They cannot do that unless they bat with more common sense and stop gifting wickets away.”
