“We were very happy with the performance of the Proteas in the second Test match at Dubai and we see no need to change something that is operating well”

South Africa have retained the same Test squad for their two-Test series against India, which gets underway on December 18 in Johannesburg.

One of the major surprises is the fact that back-up wicketkeeper Thami Tsolekile has managed to keep his place in the side ahead of Quinton de Kock, who has been in red-hot form as of late.

South Africa convenor of selectors Andrew Hudson stated that the same team was named after their impressive performance against Pakistan during the second Test in Dubai in October.

“We were very happy with the performance of the Proteas in the second Test match at Dubai and we see no need to change something that is operating well,” Hudson said.

South Africa Squad: Graeme Smith (capt), AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Dean Elgar, Imran Tahir, Jacques Kallis, Rory Kleinveldt, Morne Morkel, Alviro Petersen, Robin Peterson, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Thami Tsolekile
