Sahara bought the bidding document after receiving requests from numerous members of the national team

Sahara India Pariwar have announced that they have bought a bidding document in an attempt to sponsor India once again from 2014 to 2017.

Six other companies also bought the bidding document for Rs 200,000 (approximately $3,200) before the deadline closed on Saturday.

All the companies will now have till 3pm on Monday to submit their bids, upon where they will be opened.

Sahara India Pariwar’s relationship with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has drastically deteriorated over the past couple of months and they were adamant about not sponsoring the national team when their contract expires at the end of the year.

However, according to sources, the company changed their mind after receiving requests from numerous members of the national team.

But, even if Sahara India Pariwar were to submit a bid, it will have to be higher than their six competitors if they are to retain the sponsorship rights for the Indian team.

Their six competitors are Star India, Multi Screen Media, UB Group, Twenty First Century Media (TCM), World Sports Group and Gaames Unlimited.
