Farbrace expressed a renewed interest in the head coach job
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) secretary Nishantha Ranatunga has announced that former Sri Lanka assistant coach Paul Farbrace is back in the running to become the country’s next head coach after expressing a renewed interest in the position.
Farbrace initially applied for the post when Graham Ford announced that he would not be renewing his contract, which expires in January 2014.
However, after withdrawing his application, Farbrace had a change of heart and spoke to chief selector Sanath Jayasuriya, whom he worked with from 2007 to 2009, about his interest in the job once again.
“After we extended the deadline for the application process, probably Farbrace thought we would not consider him and withdrew,” Ranatunga said. “He has told Sanath that he is interested again, so the committee that selects the coach recommended that we ask him to be available for an interview.”
