Bhatti was detained at Dubai International Airport for several hours

Pakistan all-rounder Bilawal Bhatti was detained at Dubai International Airport for several hours after trying to enter the United Arab Emirates with an invalid visa.

After he was released, he joined up with the rest of his team-mates.

According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Bhatti used his single-entry visa when returning home to Pakistan after the national team’s tour of South Africa.

He attempted to use the same visa to get into the United Arab Emirates for Pakistan’s upcoming series against Sri Lanka, but ended up being detained by the authorities.

Bhatti was allowed to stay at a hotel near the airport while the PCB applied for a new visa on his behalf.

“Bilawal had failed to report this act to the PCB and hence could not enter Dubai,” the PCB said. “The PCB has made arrangements for Bilawal to stay at a hotel inside the Dubai airport and has applied for a new visa.”
