Smith was granted compassionate leave

South Africa opening batsman Graeme Smith has been ruled out of the third and final ODI against Pakistan after being granted compassionate leave.

Smith will be replaced by Henry Davids, who will be making his ODI debut at the age of 33.

“Henry (Davids) has performed for us in the T20 format and this is another opportunity for him to make a contribution in the ODI squad,” Cricket South Africa selection convenor Andrew Hudson said. “He had a successful run in the Momentum One-Day Cup and this is just reward for his consistent performances.”

South Africa have to win tomorrow’s match in order to avoid being whitewashed 3-0.
