Irfan is likely to be out of action for the next four weeks
Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Irfan is likely to miss the upcoming series against Sri Lanka in the United Arab Emirates in December due to a hamstring injury.
Irfan sustained the injury during the second and final Twenty20 International against South Africa in Dubai earlier this month.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have been advised to sideline Irfan for a further four weeks.
“Irfan appears to be out of the series against Sri Lanka as it starts on December 11 and he requires some time to recover from his injury,” a PCB official said. “Irfan is being monitored by our doctors but he has to rest for another four weeks.”
The PCB also revealed that pace bowler Umar Gul may be ruled out of the series as well.
“Gul’s position will be known on December 3 but he has been playing some domestic cricket since he underwent a rehabilitation process after undergoing a knee operation in Australia in May,” another official said.
