Vithanage is likely to make his limited overs debut for Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka have included batsman Kithuruwan Vithanage and leg-spinner Seekkuge Prasanna in their ODI squad for their upcoming series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates in December.

Vithanage will replace Mahela Jayawardene as his wife is expecting a child, while Prasanna will take the place of Ajantha Mendis, who has been dropped.

Prasanna’s last ODI for Sri Lanka came against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup in March 2012, while Vithanage has yet to make his limited overs debut.

It is also understood that spinner Rangana Herath will be rested for the Twenty20 series in order to control his workload.

Ramith Rambukwella will also be included in the Twenty20 team if he recovers from a knee injury he sustained in the second and final Twenty20 International against New Zealand.
