Chandimal was fined 20 per cent of his match fee

Sri Lanka Twenty20 captain Dinesh Chandimal has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate during the second and final Twenty20 International against New Zealand in Pallekele.

Chandimal’s team-mates were all fined 10 per cent of their match fees as well after the skipper was found to have breached Article 2.5.1 of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct.

“Sri Lanka has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during its Twenty20 International (T20I) against New Zealand in Pallekele on Thursday,” the ICC said in a statement.

Match referee Chris Broad imposed the fines after he found that Sri Lanka were one over short of their target.

“In accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, and in particular the regulations contained therein governing minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount,” the statement added.
