Atapattu is still in contention to become Sri Lanka’s next head coach

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) CEO Ashley de Silva has announced that the board is considering expanding their two-man shortlist of Marvan Atapattu and Mark Davis for the head coach job.

SLC revealed that Atapattu or Davis would replace Graham Ford as head coach in January 2014 on November 6.

While it is still highly possible that one of the two finalists will end up with the job, SLC are still considering broadening their search in order to find a few more qualified candidates.

“The committee to nominate a coach met last week, and we will make our proposal to the executive committee,” de Silva said. “Once the executive committee ratifies something, we will release it to the press. The executive committee meeting will hopefully be sometime next week – the date has not yet been set.”
