“Every player has got adequate chances, more than two series, and yet they are not performing and it’s a big worry”

Just a day after being thrashed 4-1 in their ODI series against South Africa, Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has admitted that the national team’s performance throughout their last couple of series “are worrying signs for me before the 2015 World Cup”.

Pakistan’s batsmen, with the exception of ul-Haq, have failed to score consistently and their fielding has been well below par as of late.

“As a captain this is very difficult for me and these are worrying signs for me before the 2015 World Cup,” ul-Haq said. “Every player has got adequate chances, more than two series, and yet they are not performing and it’s a big worry.

“But rather making a big hue and cry over it we must sit down and think seriously about it. As captain you are responsible.”

When asked if he wanted to be Pakistan captain until the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, ul-Haq said: “I always say this and I maintain that I want to play as long as I am fit.”
