“If you can get one over the captain in any side, obviously it’s an advantage”
England pace bowler Chris Tremlett has revealed that the national team will target Australia captain Michael Clarke throughout the upcoming Ashes series since “he’s been their form player in the last few years”.
While Tremlett is determined to get the opportunity to bowl to Clarke, he will first have to make the cut as he, Steven Finn and Boyd Rankin will all be battling it out for the final spot left on the team roster.
“It’s always important that you target the captain in any side and obviously he’s been their form player in the last few years,” Tremlett said. “If you can get one over the captain in any side, obviously it’s an advantage. So he’s one player we’ll target, as well as some other guys.”
England will play their first warm-up match against Western Australia on October 31 in Perth.
