Tikolo’s last match for Kenya came during the 2011 World Cup

Kenya has recalled 42-year-old Steve Tikolo for the upcoming World Twenty20 Qualifiers in the United Arab Emirates.

Tikolo will come out of international retirement as he has not represented Kenya in over two-and-a-half years.

In fact, his last appearance for his country came during the 2011 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup when he played against Zimbabwe in Kolkata.

Following the World Cup, Tikolo announced his retirement from international cricket after having represented Kenya in 134 ODIs and 11 Twenty20 Internationals.

Kenya have also recalled 35-year-old Thomas Odoyo, who last game for them came during the 2011 World Cup as well.

Odoyo has not played a Twenty20 International since 2008.

Both Tikolo and Odoyo made their international debuts during the 1996 World Cup, in which Kenya recorded a stunning victory over the West Indies.

Kenya’s biggest achievement in global competitions came during the 2003 World Cup, where they managed to reach the semi-finals.

However, since then it has pretty much been a train wreck as the national team have failed to do anything spectacular, despite qualifying for the 2007 and 2011 World Cups.

Kenya have also only qualified for one major Twenty20 tournament in their history, which was the inaugural World Twenty20 in South Africa in 2007.
