Akmal will play his first match since suffering a seizure during the CPL
Pakistan have recalled wicketkeeper batsman Umar Akmal and pace bowler Wahab Riaz for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa, which gets underway on October 30 in Sharjah.
Batsman Shoaib Maqsood and left-arm seamer Sohail Tanvir have also been included in the 16-man squad.
The national selectors decided to drop the pace duo of Anwar Ali and Asad Ali, along with batsman Haris Sohail as well.
Akmal missed out on Pakistan’s tour of Zimbabwe after suffering a seizure on a flight to Jamaica during the inaugural Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in August.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) asked him to return home immediately and undergo treatment after consulting a neurologist.
Akmal was cleared to resume all cricketing activities by the neurologist last month.
Tanvir meanwhile has not represented Pakistan in an ODI since August 2012.
