“In their own conditions, India are surely a formidable opposition”
New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum believes India are definitely the favourites in their limited overs home series against Australia, which will feature seven ODIs and a one-off Twenty20 International.
McCullum added that India are almost unstoppable at home and Australia will have to find a way to out-think Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
“In their own conditions, India are surely a formidable opposition,” McCullum told IANS. “They are incredibly well led by MS Dhoni and have got some very successful players in their ranks. Australia are a better team than what the Ashes result showed. But I still think India will win at home.”
Former New Zealand pace bowler-turned commentator Simon Doull agreed with his fellow countryman, stating that India had an edge “in the batting department”.
“I think India are definitely better in the batting department,” Doull said. “On the bowling front, both teams are fairly equal. I just don’t see Australians getting enough runs on the board to win the series.”
