Sodhi will play his maiden international series this month

Veteran New Zealand all-rounder Daniel Vettori has announced that 20-year-old leg-spinner Ish Sodhi is “probably one of the most talented bowlers I’ve ever seen”.

Vettori’s comments come after Sodhi was selected for New Zealand’s tour of Bangladesh later this month.

“He’s probably one of the most talented bowlers I’ve ever seen,” Vettori told the New Zealand Herald. “His skill level is incredibly high. I think there’s something special about him. I’ve been trying to spread the message to our guys for a while. He loves bowling and has really worked hard on not becoming one-dimensional. He’s the sort of guy who loves cricket and just wants to bowl and bowl. He’s got a fantastic attitude.”

Sodhi was called up for international duty after impressing the national selectors with his stint at Northern Districts.

He also represented New Zealand in the 2012 Under-19 World Cup, in which the Black Caps managed to qualify for the semi-finals in Queensland.
