Rampaul will be out of action for the duration of the tournament

West Indies pace bowler Ravi Rampaul has been ruled out of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and will be replaced by Jamaica seamer Andrew Richardson.

Rampaul sprained his ankle during the opening game of the recent tri-series against India and Sri Lanka and will not represent the Jamaica Tallawahs franchise for the duration of the tournament.

Richardson, who has represented Jamaica in just one Twenty20 fixture till today, noted that he was unfazed by the challenge of bowling to some of the best Twenty20 players in the game today.

“I’m not worried about that because over the years I have been playing consistent first-class cricket both in the longer four-day version and I’ve had some very good one-day seasons,” Richardson said. “I’ve also played a lot of non-first class Twenty20 cricket in Jamaica and for Jamaica, so I know my ability and I will contribute to the Jamaica Tallawahs when the time comes for me to play.”
