Ul-Haq scored 260 runs in the recently concluded five-match ODI series against the West Indies

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has been announced as Australian batsman Luke Pomersbach’s replacement in the St Lucia Zouks side for the inaugural edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Pomersbach was forced to pull out of the tournament on compassionate leave.

Ul-Haq has been in blistering form as of late, scoring four half-centuries in five ODI matches against the West Indies, which led to him being named the Man of the Series.

“Although it is unfortunate that Luke Pomersbach will not be joining us, we have a high-quality replacement in Misbah-ul-Haq,” Matthew Maynard, the Zouks assistant coach, said. “He brings with him a vast amount of experience of international cricket, something that will only be of benefit to our younger players, and his latest Twenty20 performance speaks for itself. On top of that he has been in excellent form during the recent ODI series against West Indies so he is completely acclimatised and match-ready and that is an added plus for us and for him.”

Ul-Haq, who also led the Faisalabad Wolves to victory in the Pakistan Super Eight T-20 Cup in March, will team up with the West Indies duo of Darren Sammy and Tino Best, while also playing alongside international stars such as South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs and Albie Morkel and Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal.
