Anderson has never played an Ashes Test on his home ground
England pace bowler James Anderson has announced that the national team will do everything in their power to whitewash Australia in the ongoing Ashes series as it will be the ultimate sign of humiliation for the baggy greens.
England have never managed to whitewash Australia in an Ashes series, but after having beaten them by 14 runs at Trent Bridge and 347 runs at Lord’s, things are starting to look up.
“I don’t really feel any sympathy,” Anderson said. “We want to win the series 5-0, so we will be doing everything we can in each game to win.”
Anderson also noted that he was looking forward to the third Test as it will be played on his home ground of Old Trafford.
“Cricket is huge in the north, and I hate Headingley (the Leeds headquarters of Lancashire’s traditional rivals Yorkshire), so it is good to play a Test at Old Trafford,” Anderson added. “There is so much history at the ground.
“It was in need of a lick of paint, and it got that and a little more — so I think it is going to be an amazing atmosphere.”
