Sohail blamed Khan for “encouraging” bowlers to engage in ball-tampering

Former Pakistan all-rounder turned politician Imran Khan is to blame for all of Pakistan’s current failures, according to ex-skipper Aamir Sohail.

Sohail even pointed the finger at Khan, a World Cup-winning captain, for teaching and “encouraging” bowlers to get involved in ball-tampering.

“I want to say clearly here and for once we must face the truth that Imran is responsible for the state of affairs in our cricket,” Sohail said. “Imran damaged Pakistan cricket by encouraging our bowlers to tamper with the ball. This has led to a culture where we can’t produce good new ball bowlers or quality openers.”

Sohail also noted that many of Pakistan’s senior players were not pulling their weight and his comments were agreed with by Shoaib Akhtar and Zaheer Abbas, both of whom stated that Kamran Akmal, Imran Farhat, and Shoaib Malik should be axed from the squad permanently.

“Changes have to be made and new players must be brought in and given time to settle down,” Akhtar said. “We have tried the same set of players time and again and they have not delivered in big tournaments.”
