Tikolo is under pressure to ensure Kenya qualify for the Under-19 World Cup
Former Kenya captain Steve Tikolo has been appointed as the new coach of the country’s Under-19 squad after spending just under a year as the head coach of the Ugandan national team.
Tikolo takes over from his team-mate Joseph Angara and will be looking to bring glory to the country as he will attempt to guide the Under-19 squad to victory in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Under-19 World Cup Africa qualifiers in Uganda.
Kenya have won their first two games in the tournament and under Tikolo’s expertise and experience, they will be looking to go the distance and qualify for the Under-19 World Cup.
“The players [are] talented and that is key for any coach,” Tikolo was quoted as saying in The Star. “I know there is a lot of work to be done but I am determined to walk the hard path with them.”
During his international career, Tikolo was one of the most successful Kenyan players in the history of the sport, scoring 3421 runs in 134 ODIs, which included three centuries.
