Gibbs has developed the reputation of being a freelance Twenty20 specialist
Former South African batsman Herschelle has become the fifth international superstar to sign up for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and will join other powerhouses such as ex-Australia captain Ricky Ponting and his long-time teammate Adam Gilchrist, New Zealand’s Ross Taylor and Pakistan Twenty20 skipper Mohammad Hafeez.
The CPL is scheduled to take place between July 29 and August 26 and will feature six Caribbean franchise nations, which are, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago.
“I am really looking forward to playing in the first CPL,” Gibbs said. “I love the Caribbean and have great memories of touring there.
“The people are lovely and although each nation is different, they all have that same warmth and charm that makes everyone want to go there. Many of the West Indies players have become my friends over the years and playing alongside them in their home countries will really be special.”
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) have also confirmed the six West Indian franchise players, and they are, Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Darren Sammy and Marlon Samuels.
