A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Cricket Australia are absolute ‘muppets’, says Shane Warne

Warne believes people should not robbed of the opportunity to see their favourite players in action

Former Australia leg-spinner Shane Warne has launched a scathing attack against Cricket Australia, calling them “muppets” for the mandatory rotation policy they have imposed on all the players in the national team.

Warne used social networking site Twitter to voice his frustrations at the rotation policy, which has also drawn harsh remarks from other former players such as Allan Border and Brett Lee.

Cricket Australia introduced the rotation policy in a bid to help reduce injuries and manage the workload of their players, but many of these ex-players believe the reasons are poor at best and feel that people should get to see their favourite stars in action if they are paying good money to come and watch a match.

“I think CA really need to look at the people who are making decisions on all facets of cricket in Australia, we are seriously becoming a joke,” Warne said via Twitter. “Absolute rubbish selections, rotations, resting and farcical decisions on matches, joke. Dudding [cheating] the public and to[o] many excuses. Wake up CA.”

Warne seemed to focus a lot of his anger of former rugby star Pat Howard, who is now Cricket Australia’s high-performance chief.

“Can CA please put current cricket people in charge to run the game, select teams, not ex-rugby or any other sports people please, seriously,” Warne added. “We have the best batsman/captain in the world in @MClarke23 [Michael Clarke] – He needs current cricket people to help him out not muppets.”

Players like Border and Lee have also lashed out at Cricket Australia, while former captain Ian Chappell accused the board of creating “more confusion than an algebra test”.
