Starc still believes he has a long way to go before anyone can refer to him as an all-rounder

Australia’s Mitchell Starc is more well known for his left-arm pace bowling rather than the damage he can inflict with the bat, but after having scored maiden half-centuries in both ODIs and Tests over the Australian summer, some cricket pundits and former players believe that he has the ability to become the team’s new all-rounder.

However, Starc, being humble as always, believes he is nowhere near good enough to be branded as an all-rounder and added that his batting would need to thoroughly improve before anyone can even start calling him anything but a left-arm seamer.

In his short career, the 23-year-old boasts batting averages of 30.33 in Tests and an outstanding 58.50 in ODIs, but, this is all made to look even better when it is tagged with his bowling averages, which currently stand at 29.32 in Tests and 18.38 in ODIs.

Having had a taste of scoring a half-century, Starc stated that he would be working extremely hard on his batting in the nets and his bowling as well since his ability to make the old ball reverse swing will come in real handy during the team’s upcoming four-Test series against India.
