A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Australia are in for a rude awakening during their tour of India, says Russell Arnold

Arnold believes Australia cannot completely rely on Lyon to take all of the wickets

Former Sri Lanka all-rounder Russell Arnold believes that the Australian team are going to be in for a rude awakening during their tour of India since they are nowhere near good enough to excel in the subcontinent conditions.

Arnold also noted that Australia’s lack of Test experience and spin bowlers will play a crucial role in their downfall.

While England may have bounced back during their four-Test series against India, Arnold stated that the Indians have been training harder and are looking for revenge after they were whitewashed 4-0 by the Australians towards the beginning of last year.

He further mentioned that even though Australia captain Michael Clarke may be in the form of his life at the moment, one man alone cannot defeat the entire Indian team in front of their home fans.

One major problem that Arnold, along with many other cricket pundits and former players, have pointed out is the huge gaping hole left in Australia’s middle order after the retirement of veteran batting duo Ricky Ponting and Michael Hussey.

With the Indian pitches known to be a spinner’s paradise, Arnold believes that Australia are also going to need more spin options other than Nathan Lyon, who has not been at his best as of late.
