Kallis is only the fourth cricketer to accomplish the feat
South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis has become only the fourth international cricketer to surpass 13,000 Test runs.
The 37-year-old Kallis now joins an elite club which boasts three other members, who are India’s Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid and former Australia captain Ricky Ponting.
Kallis accomplished the milestone on his home ground of Newlands during the first day of the first Test against New Zealand after delicately guiding a ball from pace bowler Doug Bracewell down to the third man boundary.
During that very same match, South Africa pace demon Dale Steyn etched his own name in cricketing history as he became the third fastest bowler to take 300 Test wickets.
