Gayle fully attributes his success to his Caribbean genes
Flamboyant West Indies opener Chris Gayle has revealed that his Caribbean roots have made him into the stylish and fearless batsman he is today.
Instead of attributing his batting style to being born during the era of the Twenty20 revolution, Gayle identified his Calypso culture and heritage for being behind his success as a batsman.
Speaking about maintaining his aggressive mindset, even in Test cricket, Gayle said: “Most people look at it as a Test match and think you should play differently, but when things happen and they don’t go according to plan then you just have to go with the flow sometimes.”
Gayle added that the Caribbean people have always had a burning passion for cricket and are all about excitement, flare and intensity, which are just a handful of words that come to anyone’s mind when they are asked to describe the Jamaican powerhouse.
