A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Simon Katich fined $1,250 for offensive language

Katich pleaded guilty to two out of the three charges

Former Australia batsman Simon Katich was fined $1,250 for breaching the Code of Behaviour after using abusive language against the on-field umpire in three instances during a Big Bash League match between the Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars.

Cricket Australia slapped Katich, the captain of the Scorchers franchise, with the fine under Code of Behaviour Rule 2.6, which states “Use of language that is of obscene, offensive, or of a generally insulting nature to another player, official or spectator.”

According to reports, it was said that Katich used offensive language against the on-field umpires in three instances, but the former Australia batsman only pleaded guilty to two out of the alleged three confrontations.

Katich was found guilty by Commissioner Rob O’Connor for the two instances to which he pleaded guilty to.
