A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Mark Ramprakash named as England’s new batting coach

Ramprakash is thrilled to be working with the national team

Former England batsman Mark Ramprakash has been named as the new batting coach of the national team.

Ramprakash has been helping with the England Performance Programme in Mumbai, where some of the players are groomed to become the next generation of batsmen and he stated that he was pleased to get the opportunity to coach the England team.

Ramprakash also noted that he was jealous of the amount of support many young superstars receive nowadays and recalled how he used to learn his strokes by watching his cricketing heroes on television.

However, despite being one of the greatest players on the county circuit, Ramprakash never got his international career going, as he scored only two centuries in 52 Tests for England.

“The ups and downs in my career should help me as a coach,” The Sun quoted Ramprakash as saying. “I can identify with players perhaps trying too hard, feeling under pressure.

“I’m envious of what these kids have. I look at their opportunities, training methods and attention to detail. They have recovery techniques too. When I started, a recovery technique was a curry and diet coke – watching Gatt eating his and have a few pints.”
