A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Sir Vivian Richards calls on ICC to reduce the number of T20 games

Richards believes Test cricket will no longer exist if Twenty20 cricket continues to grow at this pace

Legendary West Indian batsman Sir Vivian Richards has called on the International Cricket Council (ICC) to cut down on the number of Twenty20 Internationals played and restore order amongst all three formats.

This is not the first time Richards has lashed out at the growing number of Twenty20 matches being played in a year since he is truly worried about the dwindling crowds at Test matches.

“You can still have Twenty20 cricket, which can be a great asset in terms of what you miss with bums on seats as far as Test cricket is concerned,” the Daily Mirror quoted Richards as saying. “I just want balance, and if you have balance you will have a much better ratio of individuals wanting to represent their countries.”

Richards is also concerned that the continuous emergence of new domestic Twenty20 tournaments around the world is enticing players to participate in them rather than represent their respective countries, which, according to Richards, is what international cricket should be and is all about.
