A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: ‘Mr Cricket’ Michael Hussey is not getting the respect and appreciation he deserves, says Michael Clarke

Clarke stated that Hussey deserved all the praise since he finally ended his dismal batting record against South Africa

Australia Test captain Michael Clarke believes that veteran batsman Michael Hussey, or otherwise known as ‘Mr Cricket’, is not getting the respect and appreciation he deserves after scoring two centuries and one half-century during the recently concluded three-Test series against South Africa.

Hussey scored a brilliant century during the first Test at Brisbane and backed it up with scores of 103 and 54 during the second Test at Adelaide.

However, throughout both Tests, ‘Mr Cricket’ became ‘Mr Invisible’ as Clarke’s back-to-back double hundreds put him at the centre of attention, while Hussey was shunned and left in the shadows.

“I do believe there has been a few occasions where Huss’s hundreds have been swept under the carpet,” News.com.au quoted Clarke as saying. “His form is unbelievable, the way he is playing as well, he is walking in at number six and playing with great intent.”

Hussey’s centuries against South Africa lifted his Test career batting average above 50 once again and Clarke stated that opening batsman David Warner deserved as much credit as himself and Hussey for his outstanding 119.

“There is obviously a lot of respect for how good a player he is, but a lot of credit needs to go to Huss. And Davey as well,” Clarke added. “The way they played up the other end made my life and my job a lot easier … and that gets forgotten a lot of the time, how important your partner is when you have success.”
