Pietersen did not restart his international career in the best of ways
England batsman Ian Bell has announced that Kevin Pietersen will be the x-factor for the national team throughout their four-Test series against India.
Pietersen failed to make an impact in both innings of the first Test, scoring 17 and two, but Bell believes that it is good to see the South African-born batsman back in England colours again.
“It was good for him to get into the groove. It will help him to settle down in the team. It is also a positive sign for the team, batting with him releases pressure,” Bell said.
This Test series is of utmost importance to Pietersen since he is expected to be very comfortable with the conditions and pitches due to playing numerous seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
This Test also marks Pietersen’s international return after he was exiled from the national team for sending derogatory text messages about former Test captain Andrew Strauss to South African players during their Test series over the summer.
