Hussey is confident that Australia can win the last two Tests
Having come off scoring a brilliant century at Brisbane against South Africa in the first Test, veteran Australia batsman Michael Hussey believes that every player in the national team will be pushing themselves to the limit in the last two Tests at Adelaide and Perth since they know that the number one Test team ranking is on the line.
Despite the first Test ending as a draw, Hussey is confident that the Australian team can pick up wins at both Adelaide and Perth to restore themselves as the number one Test team.
“We’re going to have to play some outstanding cricket, we’re going to have to be at our best for the whole Test series but I’m confident we can do it, we have a nice blend of youth and experience in our team and we’ve got a lot of hunger to make sure we get back to the number one team in the world,” Hussey said.
Australia are currently ranked third, behind the Proteas and England, and Hussey knows that in order for his team to reach the top, they have to ensure that South Africa’s pace trio of Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel and Vernon Philander don’t rip through their lineup, like they did back in November last year.
“They’re pretty good, there’s no coincidence they are the number one team in the world with the attack they’ve got, they complement each other really well, they are all very different bowlers, they generally play in conditions that sort of suit them as well but they’ve been able to adapt to different conditions around the world like playing in the subcontinent. I’m expecting them to adapt pretty well to Australian conditions and give us a really good challenge,” Hussey added.
